Shadows over the Earth by MR Minarsich. Jack, young, missing his father, wanting answers, sets out to find him. He enters the whispering forest knowing only this was the last place his dad was seen, there was a black vehicle and lights involved. What he finds is a black vehicle, light and aliens. MR begins with a mystery and build the suspense with space aliens. Jack unravels the mystery hoping to find his father amongst the aliens.

I really enjoyed how Shadows Over Earth captured the tension of humanity facing an unseen enemy, especially the moment when the space rocks weren’t just rocks at all but the first sign of invasion. The mix of suspense and faith driven resilience gave me chills and kept me turning pages late into the night.

What I liked most about Shadows Over Earth is that the mystery feels personal before it becomes something much bigger. Jack isn’t simply chasing some strange science-fiction mystery for the sake of adventure—he is searching for answers about his missing father. That gave the story an emotional reason to keep moving forward.The strange lights over the forest, the black vehicle near the old access road, and the unexplained sounds create a good sense of uneasiness because Jack doesn’t immediately know what he is dealing with. I especially liked that feeling of not knowing whether the rumors are connected to his father’s disappearance or whether something even more unusual is happening.

This was an interesting take on the dangers that could come from beyond Earth. I liked the sense of uncertainty and the way the story makes you think about threats we cannot always see coming. It is a good choice for readers who enjoy space fiction with suspense and a little mystery.

Great story

This book was a really nice, refreshing read for me. I liked how it focuses on the teen who ended up losing his father to these weird creatures. Its storyline is a very refreshing change from the romance novels I read all the time.
